Midjourney Basics and Commands
Getting started
Midjourney runs through Discord (or its web app). Use /imagine followed by your prompt to generate 4 image variations. React with U1โU4 to upscale one, or V1โV4 to create variations of one.
Essential parameters
--ar 16:9 sets aspect ratio. --v 6 picks the model version. --style raw reduces Midjourney's default stylization for more literal results. --no [thing] excludes an element from the image.
Managing your generations
Use /prefer to save custom parameter presets you reuse often. Organize outputs by creating separate Discord channels or folders per project so your image library stays manageable.
Key Takeaways
- `/imagine` generates 4 variations; U/V buttons upscale or vary them.
- `--ar`, `--v`, `--style raw`, and `--no` are the core parameters to know.
- `--style raw` gives more literal, less stylized results.
- Organize your generations by project to keep your library manageable.
Generate and upscale with parameters
Generate an image with `/imagine`, add `--ar 16:9 --style raw`, upscale your favorite variation, then create 4 new variations from it.
